From 1982 to 1993 David Alexander Wine Merchants traded out of 69 Queen Street in Maidenhead. It was a creative outlet specialising in wines from around the world and also an international range of beers (speciality Belgian beers) and Malt Whisky. In 1987 we were recognised by Decanter Magazine and named ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ in the Wine Merchant of the Year award. This was awarded on our knowledge, range and service. Whilst we offer mainstream wines (those that are popular and ubiquitous) we also like to find gems that are not on every high street. Wines that reflect the personality and character of the winemaker and their region.
The retail outlet was sold in 1993 and since then David Alexander has quietly traded without a bricks and mortar residence.
Our aim is to find exciting and original wines that are less easily found and to entertain and educate those willing to explore this vast and somewhat overwhelming subject. We certainly hope that if you buy wine from us you will be well rewarded and discover some gems that you may not have come across before and they will give you the same pleasure we have had discovering them.
